Announcing Zoom Dementia Series Workshop for Caregivers, Friends, Providers and Advocates of Persons Living with Memory Loss or Dementia

Web Ross, MD is a neurologist and research investigator affiliated with Pacific Health Research and Education Institute and the Veterans Affairs Pacific Islands Health Care System in Honolulu. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1981 and completed his Neurology residency at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA in 1989. Following his residency he did a two year fellowship in Behavioral Neurology at the University of California Los Angeles.
Since 1991 he has been the Project Neurologist for the Honolulu-Asia Aging Study, a longitudinal study of cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative diseases of aging in a cohort of Japanese-American men living in Hawaii. His research interests include examining rates and risk factors for Parkinson’s disease and dementia, and correlating motor and non-motor clinical features of Parkinson’s disease with neuropathology. He has also served as Local Principal Investigator for many multi-center clinical trials testing new treatments for Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Ross will cover:
• Defining dementia associated with Parkinsonism and discussing what is known about the frequency of these conditions
• Making the diagnosis of dementia associated with Parkinson’s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies
• Comparing and contrasting the clinical features including cognitive symptoms, behavioral symptoms, and motor features of parkinsonian dementias with other causes of dementia
• Managing dementias associated with parkinsonism including the cognitive symptoms and the behavioral complications
